Privacy Policy
This publication is deliberately simple, and so is its handling of information. This page describes what happens when you read a guide here.
The short version
We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run a newsletter, we do not operate advertising on this site, and we do not sell or share personal information. The only thing this site remembers about you is whether you prefer spoiler sections to stay open, and that preference is kept on your own device and never sent to us.
If you email us, we have your email. That is the extent of it. Questions go to [email protected].
Information you give us
If you write to us with a correction, a source, a suggestion, or a permissions request, we receive your message, your email address, and anything else you choose to include. We use it to reply to you and, where relevant, to check and correct a guide.
We keep correspondence relating to corrections for as long as the affected guide remains published, because a record of why a change was made is part of the change. Other messages are kept only as long as they are useful, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
We do not add correspondents to any mailing list, and we do not use your message for any purpose other than the one you sent it for.
Preferences kept on your device
This site can remember one thing for you: whether spoiler sections should stay open as you read. That setting is stored locally on the device you are reading with, is readable only by this site, and is never transmitted anywhere.
Clearing your browsing data removes it, and the site will simply return to keeping spoiler sections closed by default.
Server records
Like any site, this one is delivered by a hosting provider that keeps standard technical records of requests it serves, which typically include an address identifying the connection, the page requested, the time, and general information about the device making the request. These records exist for security and reliability.
We do not use those records to build profiles of readers, we do not combine them with any other information, and we do not attempt to identify individuals from them.
What we do not do
We do not operate advertising on this site. We do not use tracking pixels, cross-site identifiers, fingerprinting, or behavioral profiling. We do not embed social media widgets that report your reading back to a platform. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with anyone.
If any of this changes, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the update date at the top will tell you when. Our current position on stored preferences is also described in the cookie policy.
Children
This site is a general-audience publication about film and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask for a copy, to ask for correction, to ask for deletion, and to object to certain uses. Readers in California have specific rights under state law, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them, and readers in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area have rights under data protection law there.
Because the only personal information we normally hold is correspondence you have sent us, most requests are straightforward. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within thirty days.
We do not sell personal information, and we have no personal information to sell.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will appear here with a new update date. Material changes affecting what we collect or how we use it will be described in plain terms at the top of this page rather than buried in a clause.
