The Film Details Guide

Category

Foreshadowing

The plants that only become visible on a rewatch, and the difference between real structural setup and coincidence found after the fact.

Foreshadowing is the most satisfying category to study and the easiest to get wrong. Once a viewer knows how a story ends, the mind is extraordinarily good at finding preparation for that ending everywhere, including in places where none was intended.

Every guide in this category therefore holds two columns open. On one side, plants confirmed by the screenwriters, editors, and directors who put them there. On the other, patterns that hold up on screen but have never been claimed by anyone who made the film.
